Make a Difference & Have Fun Too!

Helping low and moderate -income families prepare their tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a rewarding way to give back to your community. Whether you’re preparing taxes or helping with client support at the site, you’ll change lives and make an immediate difference. How? First , the savings on not having to pay a professional tax preparer saves roughly $350 - $950 on average, then by helping clients claim every tax benefit they are entitled to, you help boost the family’s yearly income. This boost helps families afford food, pay utilities, and bridge the gap in their budget. Last year over $6.1 Million dollars in refunds were brought back to members of our community who need it the most. We can only succeed with Volunteers like YOU! Come make a difference and have a little fun while you’re at it. We take pride in doing what we can to create economic opportunity for all. Will you join us in our work?

Which Volunteer role suits you?

  • Tax Preparer: Prepare clients federal and state tax returns and get them their maximum refund using TaxSlayer software.

  • Client Relations Coordinator: The clients relations coordinator is the tax clinic host, making sure customers have a stellar experience, understand the process and the paperwork, and keep things running smoothly at the tax site. You will keep clients moving through the tax preparation and review process. Be the first and final friendly face for clients, checking people in when they arrive and out when their taxes are complete. Let’s just say you are super important!

  • Interpreter: Speak a language other than English or know ASL? You can help those who have limited capabilities understand their tax return. You will work along side the tax clients and tax preparers.

No Professional Experience Needed

This is a unique and excellent opportunity for those who want to gain professional experience or perhaps share the wealth of experience they already have. Free Training is provided to all volunteers before tax season begins. This training is available both on-line and in person in the classroom.

We’re excited to announce that volunteer recruitment for the 2026 tax season (covering tax year 2025) is now open! The season kicks off in late January 2026, and we’re preparing a variety of training options—both online and in-person—for new and returning tax preparers. Updated training details will be shared soon.
